The Indian team consisting of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Ganesh Thirumuru won the gold despite falling behind in the early rounds. India added gold to its gold medals in the men’s and mixed compound archery team events at the Asian Games 2026.
India Beat China 238-237 in Dramatic Final
The Indian team had a tough competition against China in the final.
China was ahead by two points in the first two ends. In the third end, India managed to reduce the margin by one point.
In the fourth and last end, Jiahao Liao of China managed to score eight points. The Indian team members then managed to score 10 points each and took the lead and eventually the gold with three shots left from China.
India Upset South Korea in Semifinals
Before this game, India upset South Korea by 234-233 in the semifinals.
India won the gold medal match with just one point ahead of South Korea.
India’s win in the semifinals marked another successful tournament in compound archery for India in the 2026 Asian Games.

Kushal Dalal
Kushal Dalal started his journey in archery at the age of 13. He was on the gold medal-winning Under-18 men’s team in India for the 2021 World Youth Championships.
In 2022, he made it to the senior team. For the 2025 World University Games, he won the mixed team gold and men’s team silver.
The 21-year-old made his World Cup debut next.
Ganesh Thirumuru
Ganesh got into archery at the age of 10 thanks to his father’s initiation.
He earned his title of Junior Asian Champion in 2024 before joining India’s senior team the same year. The following year, he won the Junior World Championship in Canada.
Before winning the gold medal at the Asian Games, he finished in fourth place at World Cup Stages 3 and 4 in 2026 season.
Sahil Jadhav
Sahil Jadhav earned the international recognition by winning the individual gold at the 2025 World University Games.
Later, he became a member of the senior national squad at the Asian Championships held in Dhaka and clinched silver in the men’s team competition.
During the 2026 World Cup season, Sahil came first in the trials for World Cup Stage 1 in Mexico and World Cup Stage 2 in China.
Additionally, he advanced to the World Cup semifinals, where he lost to Nicolas Girard, who is the world champion, with the score of 146-147.
