BBC ISWOTY Award: Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik nominated
Five athletes were nominated for the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year award, including wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik, who recently protested WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and accused him of sexual abuse and intimidation.

- Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics, as well as renowned shuttler PV Sindhu and boxer Nikhat Zareen also made the cut.
- The athletes were chosen from a short list after a jury of sports writers and journalists chose their favourite players based on their accomplishments.
- A public poll that started on Monday and will last until midnight on February 20 will determine the winner. The winner will be declared on March 5.
- The gold medalist from the 2018 Asian Para Games, Ekta Bhyan, praised the decision and emphasised the need of improving accessibility for athletes with physical limitations in stadiums.
