The Bihar Shatabdi Unorganized Sector Worker and Artisan Social Security Scheme is a program started by the Labour Resources Department, Government of Bihar. It’s meant for giving help to those individuals who work in the unorganized sector such as laborers and artisans.

Eligibility Criteria

To get the benefit, a candidate should satisfy the following criteria.

  • Be a resident of Bihar.
  • Be a worker or craftsman working in the informal sector in Bihar.
  • Be between 18 and 65 years of age.
  • Age is to be determined as on 1 July of the concerned year.

What is Considered Total Permanent Disability?

Total Permanent Disability refers to the disability suffered due to an accident under the scheme which causes loss of:

  • Sight in both eyes
  • Usage of both hands
  • Usage of both legs
  • Usage of one eye, one arm, and one leg
  • Ability to function with both the eyes due to paralysis
  • Brain function permanently damaged due to an accident or paralysis

It is necessary for a competent body to certify these above mentioned conditions.

How to Apply for the Scheme

The application process takes place off-line.

Step 1: Obtain the Application Form

Approach the office of the concerned District Officer or the Labour Welfare Committee and get the requisite application form.

Step 2: Fill in the Application Form

Complete the application form giving all the required information and attach the necessary documents.

Step 3: Submit the Application Form

You need to submit the completed application form along with self-attested copies of the documents required to the concerned District Officer or Labour Welfare Committee.

Document Required

The documents need to be submitted by the applicant are;

  • Dully filled application form form-2
  • Proof of residence
  • Proof of age (Aadhaar card, voters ID, etc.)
  • Current file capturing the disability of the applicant
  • Police report or FIR of the incident (if any)
  • Letter from Mukhiya or Ward Counselor (where FIR not lodged)
  • Physically disabled certificate from competent authority.
  • Letter of Doctor (if applicable).
  • Letter of Mukhiya/Ward Member/Panchayat Samiti/Ward Counselor confirming the applicant’s occupation.
  • Aadhaar card.
  • Caste certificate (if any).
  • Bank account details with IFSC code (along with a copy of the First page of the bank passbook).
