Conference on ‘Spectrum of Literacy’ Precedes International Literacy Day 2024

As a precursor to International Literacy Day 2024, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, will host an International Conference titled “Spectrum of Literacy” on September 7, 2024. This virtual conference will be organized by CIET, NCERT, New Delhi, and will bring together global and national experts, educators, policymakers, and literacy advocates to explore the multifaceted dimensions of literacy in today’s world.

Session 2: “Global Perspectives on Literacy Chaired.”

The conference will highlight the diverse challenges and opportunities in global education under the theme “Spectrum of Literacy.”

International Literacy Day 2024

Theme: ‘Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace.’

Focus: Addressing literacy issues in multilingual contexts to foster peace, and enhancing policies, lifelong learning systems, governance, programs, and practices.

Global Celebrations

Dates: September 9-10, 2024.

Location: Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Activities: Includes a global conference, award ceremony for UNESCO International Literacy Prizes, side events such as GAL meetings, RAMAED discussions, and showcases of literacy efforts in Cameroon and Africa.
