- From September 1, 2025, voluntary HUID-based hallmarking for silver jewellery will be introduced, enhancing purity verification and traceability for consumers.
- The revised BIS standard IS 2112:2025 adds new purity grades and a digital, simplified hallmark system including a Hallmarking Unique Identification (HUID) code.
- This update strengthens consumer protection and aligns silver hallmarking with the gold system, supported by over 230 recognized Assaying and Hallmarking Centres nationwide.
PM Modi, PM Wong Inaugurate PSA Mumbai Terminal Phase-II
