The Delhi Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has now passed a resolution for setting up Go-Delhi Foundation with an initial budget allocation of ₹50 crore for developing the startup and innovation ecosystem of the national capital. This has been announced on 18th October 2026. It is intended to help young innovators, scientists and entrepreneurs bring their innovative ideas to fruition in the form of marketable products and successful ventures.
Key Features of the Go-Delhi Foundation
The organization will provide the integrated support to the start-ups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), enabling them to evolve from mere ideas to successful products. The key features of the foundation are,
- Initial budget pull of the ₹50 crore.
- Product development – Access to the product engineering, prototyping, labs, and testing.
- Mentoring and incubation – Technical, business, and mentoring support.
- Investors – Connections with the investors and industries.
- Market preparation – Help in testing, preparing for certification, and entering markets.
- Intellectual property – Assistance with intellectual property issues.
- Government collaboration – Testing of innovative products through pilot projects by solving problems faced by government departments.
How Will the Foundation Foster Innovation?
The foundation will link up entrepreneurs with educational institutions, research institutes, industries, investments, and government departments. Rather than forcing the entrepreneur to visit different institutions for technical and commercial assistance, it will consolidate all such services on one platform.
It will also follow the hub-and-spoke concept, where the programme is implemented from existing locations of the institution and partner institutions in Delhi.
The government departments can then put forward their practical problems and test out the solutions offered by the innovators.
Structure and Administration
The Go-Delhi Foundation would operate as a company not-for-profit under Section 8 of the Companies Act of 2013 and would come under the aegis of the Department of Industries of the Delhi government.
This is expected to aid the organization in achieving its objective of fostering innovation and collaboration.
According to a statement issued by the government, there are approximately 21,000 start-ups in Delhi that have been identified by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
