The Delhi state government has introduced the ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’. This new is scheme aimed at to supporting girls education and their financial security from birth to higher studies. It was announced through the gazette notification which notified on March 30, 2026. And with this it will replace the earlier Ladli Scheme. This scheme is rolled out under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and it will offers the phase wise financial assistance and which can grow up to ₹1.20 lakh with interest.

The scheme is designed to provide the long-term financial support to girl children along with to ensuring they can continue their education.
Its main objectives include the,

Financial Benefits: How the Scheme Works
Under the scheme eligible beneficiaries can receive the financial assistance in different stages which are linked to education milestone they completes.
Breakdown of Financial Assistance
- ₹11,000 at birth
- ₹5,000 each at Classes 1, 6, 9, 11, and 12
- ₹10,000 for the 1-year diploma
- ₹20,000 for 2-3 year diploma courses competion
- Up to ₹25,000 for a 4-year graduation course when they complete
The total benefit will reach to the ₹61,000 and by time it will matures around ₹1.20 lakh with interest.
This amount is deposited in phase wise but it can only be accessed after completion of Class 12 or they Attain 18 or 21 years of age.
Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply
The scheme targets economically weaker section families and set the clear eligibility conditions,
- The girl must be born in Delhi State.
- She must be the resident for at least 3 years
- Annual family income should not have more than ₹1.20 lakh
- Also scheme is limited to two girl children per family
- She must study in a recognized school in Delhi
Application Process and Implementation
The application process has designed that way to look digital and transparent.
Applicants need to,
Register via an online portal and they have to submit this documents such as the,
- Birth certificate
- Residence proof
- Income certificate
- School admission proof
The District Women and Child Development Officer will verify and approve the applications for this scheme.
Special Provisions and Flexibility
The scheme have the some flexible provisions,
- In which late registration is allowed at the key stages (like school admission)
- Those girls in the child care institutions may receive the relaxed eligibility conditions
- Benefits are non-transferable and cannot be withdrawn early before time period.
If the beneficiary’s death happened the amount will go to the government.
