EMRSs Nationwide to Celebrate Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada from 1st to 15th November 2025

The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs), under the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), Ministry of Tribal Affairs, will observe Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada from 1st to 15th November 2025. The fortnight-long celebration will culminate with the grand observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on 15th November 2025, marking the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the legendary tribal freedom fighter and revered leader.

This initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who has consistently emphasized the importance of honouring India’s tribal heroes and empowering tribal youth through education, culture, and awareness.

Purpose of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada

The Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada aims to:

  • Celebrate the legacy and contributions of tribal freedom fighters.
  • Inspire students by showcasing tribal art, culture, and heritage.
  • Promote unity, cultural pride, and awareness among tribal communities.
  • Encourage creativity and participation among tribal students nationwide.

More than 1.5 lakh students from 497 EMRSs across India are expected to participate in various educational, cultural, and creative activities highlighting the rich diversity and achievements of tribal communities.

Activities and Events Across EMRSs

Throughout the Pakhwada, EMRSs will organize events that foster cultural pride and national spirit, including:

  • Padyatras (marches) promoting unity and awareness.
  • Cultural performances depicting tribal traditions and folklore.
  • Exhibitions on tribal freedom fighters and heritage.
  • Competitions and workshops on art, storytelling, and innovation.
  • Felicitation of Best-Performing Schools for creativity and participation.

Two EMRSs showing outstanding performance in organizing innovative and impactful activities will be felicitated at the national level.

Honouring Bhagwan Birsa Munda – Dharti Aaba

The celebrations will culminate on 15th November 2025, with the nationwide Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, commemorating Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary.

Known as “Dharti Aaba” (Father of the Earth), Birsa Munda was a revolutionary tribal leader who fought bravely against British colonial rule and worked for the rights of tribal people. His courage, ideals, and sacrifice continue to inspire generations across India.

The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. It manages the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) network, which provides:
