Government Launches Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack

The Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to provide Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) with a geographically distributed infrastructure. This initiative aims to support permissioned blockchain applications and promote transparent, secure, and trusted digital service delivery in India.

Launch of Key Blockchain Tools

At the event, Secretary MeitY, S. Krishnan, introduced the NBFLite, a lightweight blockchain platform, Praamaanik, a blockchain-enabled mobile app verification solution, and the National Blockchain Portal.

National Blockchain Framework (NBF)

The NBF, designed to enhance digital trust, is built with a distributed infrastructure and offers security, privacy, and interoperability. It supports application development with BaaS and is currently hosted across NIC data centers in Bhubaneswar, Pune, and Hyderabad.

Blockchain Sandbox for Startups and Academia

NBFLite is tailored for startups and academia to prototype blockchain applications, conduct research, and develop capacity. It was developed in collaboration with organizations such as C-DAC, NIC, IIT Hyderabad, and SETS Chennai.

Role in Governance and Future Goals

Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary MeitY, emphasized blockchain’s potential in transforming governance by enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public services. Scaling applications across various states and exploring new solutions are key goals. Smt Sunita Verma, Scientist G, highlighted that NBF seeks to address challenges like vendor lock-in and the need for skilled manpower, with a focus on research and development.
