India Adds 11 International Ports for E-Visa Entry: Total Rises to 88

The Government of India has notified 11 new international ports that would allow foreign citizens having a valid Indian e-Visa to enter the nation. This has further made traveling to India easier for people and has made the electronic visa system of the country accessible. As per the latest addition, the total number of international ports from where e-Visa holder foreigners would be able to enter into India has been brought to 88, which includes 37 airports, 38 seaports and 13 land ports. This information has been provided by the Government of India on August 10, 2026.

List of 11 New International Ports

These 11 new international ports include 9 land ports and 2 airports.

List of Newly Added Land Ports

These 9 newly added land ports include the following,

  • Agartala
  • Darranga
  • Gede
  • Ghojadanga
  • Haridaspur
  • Jaigaon
  • Dawki
  • Moreh
  • Attari (Road)

List of Newly Added Airports

These two newly added airports include,

  • Bhopal
  • Tirupati

Total International Ports for Entering India with e-Visa

After the latest notification from the Government, India has a total of 88 international ports for e-Visa holders to enter the country.

Types of Port Number

  • Airports: 37
  • Seaports: 38
  • Land Ports: 13
  • Total: 88

This is important since foreign travelers have more options as far as entering India through the designated ports is concerned.

What Is an Indian E-Visa?

The e-Visa is a visa facility provided by the Indian government to foreign nationals for ease of travel to India. Eligible citizens do not need to get their visas conventionally but can get the e-Visa through which they will get their Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

India launched the e-Visa facility in the year 2014 for nationals from 43 countries. However, the facility was later expanded to include 172 nationalities.

According to the government of India, about 95% of all the e-Visa applications are processed in under 72 hours.

It has been reported that more than 78 percent of the visas issued by India are currently electronic visas.
