India Unveils First Proposed Design for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train

India’s long awaited bullet train project has unveiled the first proposed design for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor. This high speed train expected to run at the 320 kmph and it promises to transform the intercity travel between the two of the India’s biggest economic hubs.

First Look of India’s Bullet Train Unveiled

The Ministry of Railways has revealed the first proposed design of the India’s bullet train.

The display has been installed at Gate Number 4 of the Ministry of Railways building in the New Delhi.

This offers the first official visual glimpse of the train which will operate on the India’s first high speed rail corridor.

The current design remains as a proposed concept and it may undergo refinements before final deployment.

Speed and Train Features

The proposed bullet train has been designed with the strong focus on speed, comfort and passenger convenience.

The train is also expected to have 8 coaches in its initial configuration.

It will run at a top speed of the 320 kilometres per hour.

This will make it the fastest train service in the India.

The high-speed rail system is expected to bring the airline like travel efficiency to rail passengers.

Mumbai to Ahmedabad in Just 2 Hours

The biggest highlight of this project is the significant reduction in the travel time between two cities.

Once it gets fully operational, passengers will be able to travel between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in approximately two hours.

Currently, the conventional rail travel on this route takes significantly longer.

The project is also expected to revolutionize business and leisure travel between western India’s major urban centres.

Full Route and Distance

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor will cover a total distance of 508 kilometres.

The route will connect the Maharashtra and Gujarat through a modern high-speed rail network.

This will be the India’s first dedicated bullet train corridor.

Bullet Train Stations List

The high-speed rail corridor will include the 12 stations.

These stations names are,

• Sabarmati
• Ahmedabad
• Anand
• Vadodara
• Bharuch
• Surat
• Bilimora
• Vapi
• Boisar
• Virar
• Thane
• Mumbai

These stations have been strategically selected to support the economic connectivity.

First Phase Launch Plan

The first operational section will not open all at the once.

The initial phase is planned between the Surat and Bilimora.

This section will cover around the100 kilometres.

This phased rollout is intended to accelerate the early operational readiness.

Target Launch Timeline

The current target for the operational launch is August 15, 2027.

This would align with the launch with India’s Independence Day celebrations.
