The Indian boxing contingent made a remarkable impact at the 3rd Elorda Cup 2024, held in the Kazakh capital city of Astana. The team returned with an impressive haul of 12 medals, including 2 gold, 2 silver, and 8 bronze.
Gold Medal Glory
India’s top-ranked female boxer, Nikhat Zareen, clinched the gold medal in the 52 kg category. Hailing from Nizamabad, Telangana, Nikhat defeated Kazakhstan’s Zhazira Urakbayeva with a resounding 5-0 scoreline in the final bout.
Adding to India’s golden glory was Minakshi from Hisar, Haryana. She outclassed Uzbekistan’s Saidakhon Rakhmonova 4-1 in the 48 kg category final, securing the first gold medal for the Indian contingent.
Silver Medallists
On the final day of the Elorda Cup, Anamika (50 kg) and Manisha (60 kg) claimed silver medals for India. Anamika fell short against the reigning world and Asian champion, China’s Wu Yu, losing 1-4 in the final bout. Meanwhile, Manisha succumbed to a 0-5 defeat against Kazakhstan’s Viktoriya Grafeeva.

About the Elorda Cup
The Elorda Cup is an international boxing tournament organized by the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of Astana City and the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation. This year’s edition took place from 12th to 19th May 2024.
Boxers from Kazakhstan, China, India, Japan, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Tajikistan participated in the 3rd Elorda Cup.
The inaugural edition of the Elorda Cup was held in 2022, with Uzbekistan, India, Japan, Cuba, and Kyrgyzstan taking part. The 2nd edition in 2023 witnessed the participation of Bahrain, China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan (host), Mongolia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
