Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron Concludes Visit to Phuket, Thailand

The First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy, comprising INS Sujata, INS Shardul, and ICGS Veera, successfully concluded its visit to Phuket Deep Sea Port, Thailand. The visit featured coordinated tactical maneuvers, professional exchanges, and joint exercises with the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), reinforcing the maritime partnership between India and Thailand.

Key Highlights of the Visit

1. PASSEX Exercise

• The Indian Navy conducted coordinated tactical maneuvers and an exchange of sea riders with HTMS Huahin on March 4, 2025.
• The exercise enhanced interoperability and operational coordination between the two navies.

2. Bilateral Naval Activities

• Multiple professional exchanges, training visits, and social interactions were held between Indian and Thai naval personnel.
• Strengthened Navy-to-Navy relations through discussions on regional security and joint training opportunities.

3. High-Level Meetings

• Capt Anshul Kishore, Senior Officer of 1TS, and the Commanding Officers of INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and ICGS Veera met Vice Admiral Suwat Donsakul, Commander of the 3rd Naval Area Command.
• Discussions covered regional security, training collaborations, and goodwill initiatives.

4. Training & Cultural Engagements

• Sea trainees of 1TS visited Phangna Naval Port, HTMS Krabi, and the 3rd Naval Area Command to share best practices.
• A guided tour of 1TS ships was arranged for school children, RTN personnel, and the Indian diaspora.
• Hosted a combined yoga session and friendly sports matches to enhance cultural bonds.

5. Public Engagements & Diplomacy

• An Indian Naval band concert at Patong Beach drew a large crowd of tourists and locals.
