Indian Railways offers ₹20 economy meal menu for general category passengers

Context:

Indian Railway has taken an effective initiative to provide the passengers of the general coaches with the economic meal at an affordable price of Rs.20 and snacks would cost Rs.50 with glasses of water of 200ml at affordable prices.

What’s in News?

Indian Railway will provide healthy and hygienic food to the passengers of the general coaches at an affordable price in order to expand their food and beverage services. The passengers are provided with the economic meal at Rs.20 and snacks atRs.50. at the service counter located near the general coached at the platforms.

The meals will be supplied from the kitchen of the IRCTC. The location of the service counter will be decided by the Zonal Railways to align these counters at the platforms near the general coaches.

The provision of the extended service counter has  been done on an experimental basis for a period of six months.  This service to provide the facility of meal and water at an affordable price is  already being operational at 51 stations and is being implemented in 13 others and new stations are being identified and will be covered for  the extension of these services.

Objective:

Indian Railways will provide meal to the passengers of the  general coaches through the service counters at the platforms at an affordable rate for the convenience of the passengers of these coaches which are often over-crowded.

Categories of Meal provided:

The meal have been divided into two categories:

• The one which include seven pooris, dry aloos and pickle for Rs.20.
• The second one would cost Rs.50 and offer passengers something from an assortment of South Indian Food such as rajma, rice, chhole, khichdi, bhature, kulche, pav bhaji, masala dosa.                                                                                                                                                                                Find More National News Here
