ISRO Young Scientist Programme 2024 (YUVIKA): Empowering Future Space Explorers

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) introduces the “Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” (YUVIKA) to foster the innate curiosity of children and youth towards space science. YUVIKA aims to impart fundamental knowledge on Space Science, Technology, and Applications, particularly targeting rural areas. The program aspires to ignite interest in STEM fields and nurture future talents in space exploration.

Registration Process

  1. Register on ISRO Antariksha Jigyasa Platform: Sign up on https://jigyasa.iirs.gov.in/registration between February 20 to March 20, 2024.
  2. Email Verification: Verify your email by clicking the link sent to your registered email ID.
  3. SpaceQuiz Participation: Engage in the SpaceQuiz adhering to provided guidelines.
  4. Personal Profile and Education Details: Fill in personal and educational information accurately.
  5. Certificate Submission: Obtain attested certificates from the Principal/Head of School, scan, and upload them on the website for verification.
  6. Certificate Verification: Generate a certificate for verification by the appropriate authority.
  7. Document Upload and Submission: Scan and upload all required documents before submitting the application.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students currently enrolled in Class 9 as of January 1, 2024, within India, are eligible to apply for YUVIKA – 2024.
  • Applicants must ensure the accuracy of all entered details and uploaded documents as submitted applications cannot be edited later.

Program Overview

  • Objective: To provide basic knowledge on Space Science, Technology, and Applications, with a focus on emerging trends.
  • Duration: Two weeks of classroom training, practical experiments, hands-on activities, interactions with ISRO scientists, and field visits.
  • Previous Success: YUVIKA was successfully conducted in 2019, 2022, and 2023, witnessing increasing participation from students across all states and union territories of India.
  • Curriculum: Includes classroom lectures, robotics challenges, rocket/satellite assembly, sky gazing, technical facility visits, and interactions with space scientists.
