Karnataka Governor Inaugurates National Yoga Olympiad 2024 in Mysuru

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot of Karnataka inaugurated the National Yoga Olympiad 2024 in Mysuru, emphasizing yoga’s integral role in Indian culture and its global significance. More than 400 students and 100 teachers from across the country are participating in this inaugural three-day event.

National Yoga Olympiad 2024: Theme and Participation

The theme for this year’s Olympiad is ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, reflecting its inclusive nature aimed at overall personal and communal well-being. Participants, selected from district to national levels, gather at Mysuru’s Karnataka State Open University to showcase their yoga skills and knowledge.

Global Influence and Recognition

Governor Gehlot recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global initiative to promote yoga, culminating in the United Nations’ adoption of International Yoga Day. He affirmed India’s stature as the ‘Guru of Yoga’, attributing its widespread acceptance to its enduring spiritual and health benefits.
