List of Double Centuries in ODI Cricket

On September 30, 2026, Shubman Gill made another landmark in the game of One Day International (ODI) cricket when he scored 223 runs not out in 133 balls against the West Indies in Guwahati. This became the second instance when an Indian player has hit more than one ODI double century following Rohit Sharma. It also turned into the fastest ODI double century for him since he managed to cross 200-run mark in 117 balls.

Double hundred in ODI cricket means that a batter has crossed 200 or more runs individually in a single inning. The first male cricketer who achieved such a milestone was Sachin Tendulkar when he hit 200* against South Africa in 2010.

Highest ODI Score Belongs to Rohit Sharma

Indian batting star Rohit Sharma has the record for the highest ODI score in men’s cricket with 264 runs scored against Sri Lanka in Kolkata, 2014. He is the only batter to have recorded three ODI double centuries.

The other two double centuries of Rohit were scored against Australia in 2013 and against Sri Lanka in 2017. Rohit’s three ODI double centuries are the most by any batter in men’s cricket.

India’s Shubman Gill Records Second ODI Double Century

Unbeaten knock of 223 by Shubman Gill against West Indies in the 2023 match has become his second ODI double century. His first ODI double century was scored against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 2023, with a score of 208 runs.

With his current innings, Shubman Gill has joined the league of players to record more than one ODI double century. The second ODI double century of Shubman Gill has surpassed Glenn Maxwell’s record of 201*.

Shubman Gill took 117 balls to record his ODI double century and it is now the fastest ODI double century. At the end of his innings, he remained not out with a total score of 223 from 133 deliveries.

First ODI Double Century for Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar scored his first double century in One Day International cricket, being not out on 200 against South Africa at Gwalior in 2010.

This feat dispelled the long-held notion that 50 overs of international cricket were insufficient for a batter to get to the milestone of 200. His record was followed by many more double centuries later on.
