Harshit Mahimkar and Prisha Shah dominated the Maharashtra State Open Badminton Tournament 2024, clinching both the men’s and women’s singles titles along with the U-17 boys’ and girls’ singles crowns. Held at the Willingdon Sports Club, the tournament saw these two shuttlers showcase exceptional skills, bringing back memories of previous triumphs in the Maharashtra badminton circuit while setting a high bar for future competitors.

Mahimkar’s Impressive Double Victory

Harshit Mahimkar, unseeded in the men’s singles, pulled off a remarkable 21-12, 21-17 victory over fourth-seeded Soham Pathak to win the men’s singles title. His composure and tactical play were evident as he also claimed the U-17 boys’ singles title, defeating top-seeded Tanay Mehendale with a dominant 21-7, 21-13 scoreline.

Prisha Shah’s Stellar Performance

Prisha Shah, who has been a consistent performer in the junior badminton circuit, continued her excellent form by clinching the women’s singles title with a 21-18, 21-10 win over Devanshi Shinde. She followed it up with a comfortable 21-16, 21-16 victory in the girls’ U-17 final against Khushi Pahwa, marking her second title of the tournament.
