Addressing the launch via video conference, PM Modi said this scheme will boost women’s self-employment and help achieve the Central Government’s broader goal of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis across India.

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana is an initiative by the Government of Bihar, aimed at promoting self-employment and livelihood generation among women. Key features include,
- ₹10,000 DBT to one woman per household as initial support
- Further financial assistance up to ₹2 lakh based on enterprise success
- Sectors include grocery, tailoring, livestock, handicrafts, etc.
- Training and guidance via Bihar’s 11 lakh+ Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
- Sales support through expansion of Gramin Haat-Bazaars
This scheme integrates with Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Society, enhancing access to microfinance and business training.

- The simultaneous transfer of funds was made possible only due to the success of earlier initiatives like Jan Dhan Yojana, Aadhaar, and mobile linkage. He highlighted how over 30 crore women now have bank accounts, enabling real-time, corruption-free fund transfers.
- The scheme as a “brother’s gift to sisters” during Navratri, reflecting personal and cultural symbolism to highlight its significance.
Lakhpati Didi Campaign: Scaling Nationwide Impact
The scheme complements the Central Government’s Lakhpati Didi Campaign, aimed at transforming rural women into self-reliant entrepreneurs earning over ₹1 lakh annually.
