NHAI Launches Digital Local Pass and MargMitra Help Centre on RajmargYatra Mobile App

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has improved its digital offerings with lthe launching of Digital Local Pass and the MargMitra Help Centre on the RajmargYatra Mobile App. These initiatives, which were announced on 20th July 2026, are in accordance with the Digital India aim of the Government of India and will help make highway travel easier and more efficient. The Digital Local Pass helps eligible commuters buy toll passes without going to the toll plaza, and the MargMitra provides multilingual AI assistance for FASTag, grievances, and highway-related information. The above-mentioned features are expected to improve the travel experience of users of National Highways across India.

NHAI Launches a Couple of New Services Digitally

In its effort to promote the convenience of travelling on National Highways, NHAI recently added two important features through its RajmargYatra Mobile App,

  • Digital Local Pass
  • MargMitra Help Center

By using these services, it reduces the paperwork needed, neither do the users have to go to toll booths, and quicker solutions become available via technology.

What is the Digital Local Pass?

The Digital Local Pass helps commuters who qualify to get a monthly pass to enter toll roads with the help of the RajmargYatra mobile application.

Before, commuters had to visit toll booths and submit paperwork in order to demonstrate their right to avail of the local pass. The new digital method enables them to do it completely online and get their pass within minutes.

The first Digital Local Pass has been introduced at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on UER-II (Urban Extension Road-II) in Delhi, while the NHAI plans to introduce the system in other areas of the country in the future.

Who Can Get a Local Digital Pass?

People living within 20km of a qualified toll plaza are eligible to apply for a Local Digital Pass.

People eligible will receive the,

  • Unlimited usage of the selected toll plaza throughout the validity period
  • A fully digital application process
  • Speedy response due to automated verification system

This does away with the necessity of physically providing documents and making things quite easy for the users.

The Process of Digital Verification

Digital Local Pass uses various digital applications made by the Government for accurate and safe verification.

Integration with DigiLocker

The app will obtain the validated addresses through the use of the DigiLocker, provided the user agrees.

Integration with VAHAN

The database VAHAN holds will provide vehicle registration details about the vehicle.

Integration with FASTag

The system will automatically validate the FASTag linked with the vehicle registered.

GIS Verification

The Geographic Information System (GIS) technology provides evidence that the applicant lives within the 20 km radius of the toll plaza.

This digital process gives more transparency and reduces manual work.

MargMitra Help Centre Explained

MargMitra is an intelligent digital assistant incorporated in the RajmargYatra Mobile App.

The purpose of MargMitra is to facilitate National Highway users by providing them with a single support system, allowing them to:

  • Access highway services.
  • Check the status of grievance.
