James Gray, an American movie director is going to be honored with the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera award at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival. The award is planned to be given on 9th August, 2026 just before his latest movie, Paper Tiger, is screened at the Locarno open-air cinema. Gray is known for his outstanding ability to create excellent movies featuring unique visual style.
Locarno Film Festival Honors James Gray with Career Award
This year, during the 79th Locarno Film Festival, the festival will honor James Gray with the Honorary Career Pardo Award – Pardo alla Carriera.
The award honors the filmmakers who have influenced the global cinema. Gray will receive it after the screening of his movie Paper Tiger in Piazza Grande, one of the largest open-air cinemas of Europe, with around eight thousand audience members.
Besides Paper Tiger, one of the previous movies by James Gray, as We Own the Night (2007) and Two Lovers (2008), will also be screened at the festival.

James Gray is a filmmaker from America associated with original content full of characters and touching upon such issues as family, identity, immigration, and morality.
