The Indian boxing player Parveen Hooda earned the women’s 65kg gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 on October 2. The athlete beat Chinese Taipei boxer Nien-chin Che in the final and won the maiden Asian Games medal. Parveen won the first round with the result of 5-0, lost the second round with 0-5 and managed to win the decisive round with 3-2. It is worth noting that the victory happened on the same day as Lovlina Borgohain’s gold medal win in the women’s 75kg category.
Parveen Hooda Wins Against Nien-chin Che in 65kg Final
Parveen Hooda showed a good performance against Nien-chin Che and won the women’s 65kg gold medal. The Indian boxer dominated the first round and won with the result of 5-0 on all judges’ scorecards.
Then Chinese Taipei boxer showed a great performance and won the second round 5-0.
Being on the line for the gold medal, Parveen kept calm in the final round and won 3-2.
Parveen Hooda becomes Third Indian Woman Boxer to Win Asian Games Gold Medal
In the boxing competition, Parveen became the third Indian woman boxer to get the gold medal in the Asian Games. This is because Mary Kom MC had won a gold medal in the women’s 51kg title at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon.
On the other hand, Lovlina Borgohain had won the women’s 75kg gold at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026. Parveen also won the 65kg title in the same tournament making India earn two women’s boxing gold medals in the 2026 Asian Games edition.

Parveen Hooda’s International Boxing Achievement
The Indian boxers have earned success at different international tournaments. For instance, she had won a gold medal in the 2025 World Cup and a gold medal at the 2022 Asian Championships.
Parveen also won a bronze medal in the 2022 World Championships. Asian Games 2026 gold became another major achievement in her career.
Lovelina Borgohain Wins Gold in Boxing
Prior to the triumph of Parveen, Lovelina Borgohain beat Chinese boxer Ziyi Bao 5-0 in the women’s 75kg category final bout. The victory took place on Lovelina’s 29th birthday, thus turning her Asian Games silver medal into the gold one.
Thus, Lovelina is the second female boxer from India after MC Mary Kom who managed to win a boxing gold medal in the Asian Games as well as an Olympic medal. Lovelina had earlier won a bronze medal in the Olympics in Tokyo 2020.
