PM Modi Inaugurates Chhattisgarh Assembly on State Foundation Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh to mark the state’s Silver Jubilee—25 years since its formation in 2000. On this symbolic day, he inaugurated the new Legislative Assembly complex, unveiled a statue of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and launched infrastructure and welfare projects worth over ₹14,260 crore. The event was a blend of development vision, governance symbolism, and security messaging, signalling Chhattisgarh’s progress and future trajectory.

PM Modi’s Major Announcements in Chhattisgarh

  • The Prime Minister’s visit brought a slew of significant unveilings and promises aimed at infrastructure, healthcare, housing, and economic growth.
  • New Legislative Assembly Building: The newly inaugurated assembly complex in Nava Raipur spans 51 acres and is designed using local artistry, including handcrafted Bastar doors and rice-grain ceiling motifs, reflecting Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity. It cost around ₹324 crore.
  • Vajpayee Statue Unveiled: PM Modi unveiled a statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the assembly premises, paying tribute to the leader under whose tenure Chhattisgarh was created in 2000.

Development Projects Worth ₹14,260 Crore

The Prime Minister laid the foundation for and inaugurated numerous projects with a combined value of over ₹14,260 crore, including,

  • 3.5 lakh families received pucca homes under PMAY-Gramin.
  • 12 Startup Village Entrepreneurship Programme blocks launched in 9 districts.
  • Five government medical colleges to be built in Manendragarh, Kabirdham, Janjgir-Champa, Geedam and Bilaspur.
  • A new Ayurveda college and hospital in Bilaspur.
  • Nagpur-Jharsuguda gas pipeline (~500 km) dedicated, linking 11 districts to the national gas grid.

Cultural, Spiritual, and Social Initiatives

  • Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Memorial and Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum inaugurated in Nava Raipur.
  • PM interacted with 2,500 children at Shri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital, part of the “Dil Ki Baat” initiative for heart patients.
  • Inaugurated “Shanti Shikhar”, a Brahma Kumaris centre for meditation and spiritual learning.
