Smriti Mandhana scripted another history in the international cricket again as she became the leading run-getter in Women’s T20I cricket by surpassing New Zealand’s Suzie Bates during the 2026 semi-final of India Women’s Asian Games between India Women and Bangladesh Women in 20 September 2026.

Mandhana smashed 37 runs off just 19 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes at a strike rate of 194.47. The run-getting innings saw her surpass Bates’ record to become the leading run-getter in Women’s T20I cricket.

Smriti Mandhana Takes Top Spot in Women’s T20Is

Ahead of the game, Suzie Bates was on top with 4,758 T20I runs. Mandhana surpassed her in the 37-run knock and reached a total of 4,788 runs in her career.

Currently, Smriti Mandhana holds the top spot in the all-time Women’s T20I run-scorers list while India team captain Harmanpreet Kaur sits in third position with 4,287 runs.
