Telangana CM Inaugurates Medha Rail Coach Factory in Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao recently inaugurated the Medha Rail Coach Factory, the largest private coach factory in India, located in Kondakal, Shankarpally mandal of Rangareddy district. During the inauguration ceremony, CM KCR assured complete support to Medha Servo Group for its expansion in Telangana, expressing confidence that it would generate significant employment opportunities for the local youth.

Impressive State-of-the-Art Facility

Addressing the factory employees, CM Chandrashekhar Rao commended the state-of-the-art facility created by the founders of Medha Servo Group, Kashyap Reddy and Srinivas Reddy. He expressed pride that both sons of Telangana had established such a massive manufacturing facility, capable of supplying rail coaches worldwide.

Congenial Eco-System and Industrial Growth

CM Chandrashekhar Rao emphasized the importance of a congenial eco-system for the progress of any state or country. He praised the Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self Certification System (TS-iPASS) for creating such an eco-system for industrial growth in Telangana. The establishment of the rail coach factory has led to the development of ancillary industries in the surrounding areas, thereby creating additional job opportunities for the local population.

Joint Venture and Investment

The rail coach manufacturing facility at Kondakal was established through a joint venture between Telangana-based Medha Servo Group and Stadler Rail, with a significant investment of Rs 1,000 crore. Despite the Central government’s failure to fulfill its promise of establishing a rail coach factory at Kazipet under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, the Industries Department, led by Minister KT Rama Rao, successfully attracted this substantial investment for the establishment of India’s largest private coach factory in Hyderabad.

Expansion Plans and Contribution

The coach factory, which currently spans about 25 acres, will be further expanded in phases. It has already manufactured components for two Vande Bharat trains operating in the Telugu States and supplied 160 coaches to the Indian Railways. Additionally, the Medha Servo Group intends to establish a wagon manufacturing unit spanning an additional 75 acres, further contributing to the development of the region’s rail infrastructure.

Inaugural Ceremony Attendees

The inaugural ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and Council, Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, Principal Secretary for IT and Industries Jayesh Ranjan, Medha Servo Group Managing Director Kashyap Reddy, and others.

Telangana’s Industrial Eco-System and TS-iPASS

Telangana’s success in attracting significant investments and promoting industrial growth can be attributed to the creation of a favorable industrial eco-system. The Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self Certification System (TS-iPASS) has played a crucial role in simplifying the approval process for industries, ensuring swift clearances, and providing a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

Job Creation and Ancillary Industries

The establishment of the Medha Rail Coach Factory in Kondakal has not only created employment opportunities directly but has also spurred the growth of ancillary industries in the surrounding areas. This development has had a positive impact on the local economy, generating additional jobs and contributing to overall regional development.

Future Prospects and Expansion Plans

With plans for the expansion of the coach factory in the pipeline, Telangana’s industrial growth trajectory looks promising. The Medha Servo Group’s vision to establish a wagon manufacturing unit further demonstrates its commitment to contributing to the development of the rail sector in the region.
