Union Minister Launches LDB 2.0 to Strengthen India’s Digital Trade

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal launched the Logistics Data Bank (LDB) 2.0 in New Delhi. The launch coincided with the decade-long celebrations of Make in India and marks a major step in India’s journey toward becoming a digitally empowered, globally competitive economy. The upgraded logistics platform promises real-time data tracking, multi-modal visibility, and high-seas container monitoring, all of which will significantly improve supply chain efficiency and export competitiveness, particularly benefiting MSMEs and exporters.

What is LDB 2.0?

Developed by NICDC Logistics Data Services (NLDSL), LDB 2.0 is an upgraded version of India’s logistics tracking system. It builds on earlier digital initiatives but introduces major enhancements,

• High-seas container tracking: Exporters can now track containers even after departure from Indian ports across international waters.
• Multi-modal shipment visibility: Covers road, rail, and sea by integrating data from container, truck, trailer numbers, and railway FNRs.
• Integration with ULIP APIs: Ensures seamless exchange of logistics data under the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP).
• Live container heatmap: Displays container distribution across India, helping policymakers detect regional imbalances and address bottlenecks proactively.
