Uttarakhand to Launch Operation Kalanemi Against Fake Saints

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the launch of ‘Operation Kalanemi’, a police operation to take strict action against people pretending to be saints. These fake spiritual leaders are accused of cheating the public and harming the image of Sanatana Dharma. The move is aimed at protecting religious harmony and stopping fraud in the name of faith.

Why ‘Operation Kalanemi’?

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami explained that the name ‘Operation Kalanemi’ comes from a demon in Hindu mythology, Kalanemi, who misled people by dressing like a saint. Similarly, some people today wear the robe of sadhus (saints) to cheat innocent devotees, especially targeting women.

The CM said that these impersonators misguide people, hurt their religious feelings, and create trouble in society. He warned that no one would be spared—action will be taken regardless of their religion.

Strong Government Action Planned

Mr. Dhami has directed the Uttarakhand Police to immediately begin this operation. The aim is to identify and arrest fake saints who misuse religion for personal gain. Police teams will work across the state to catch those involved in such activities.

The Chief Minister made it clear that this action is meant to protect the dignity of true religious practices and prevent fraud and abuse under the cover of spirituality.

Public and Religious Significance

This operation comes at a time when religious gatherings and pilgrimages are increasing in the state. Uttarakhand, known for holy sites like Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Kedarnath, attracts many devotees from across the country. The government wants to safeguard people’s faith and ensure that only genuine spiritual leaders guide them.

By launching this operation, the government aims to stop those who damage the image of Sanatana Dharma and disturb social harmony.
