She set a record as an Asian record holder in the 200m individual medley (IM) and broke another world record of becoming the youngest medalist in the history of World Aquatics Championships after winning a bronze medal as a member of the China’s 4×200m freestyle relay team.

Yu Zidi was initially known for setting an Asian record in the 200m individual medley. This swimming discipline involves all four strokes, namely butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, which makes it a very complex and challenging competition.
Yu’s achievements at such a young age showed that she had the potential to be a high-level swimmer way beyond her years.
Moreover, Yu was also an important member of China’s team in the World Aquatics Championships. She helped the team win a bronze medal during the 4×200m freestyle relay. As a result, Yu became the youngest medalist in the history of the World Aquatics Championships.
