Every year on 8th of June World Oceans Day observed worldwide. This day raise the awareness about the critical role that oceans play in sustaining life on Earth. As oceans covers more than 70% of the planet’s surface and it provides the oxygen, food, livelihoods and climate regulation. History of World Oceans Day

The idea of World Oceans Day was first proposed during the 1992 Earth Summit in the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The objective was to create the awareness about humanity’s connection to the ocean and also encourage the efforts to conserve marine resources.

Later the United Nations General Assembly officially designated 8th June as the World Oceans Day through Resolution 63/111 on December 5, 2008.

Since that time the observance has become the major global event which promoting ocean conservation and sustainable development.
