On 8th of July, 2026 the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was inducted into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame. He became the 12th Indian cricketer to receive one of the world’s cricket big honour. Sourav Ganguly Becomes the 12th Indian in ICC Hall of Fame.
Induction of Sourav Ganguly marks a historic moment for Indian cricket. He is known as the ‘Dada’ and he captained India during a crucial phase. He is widely credited with building a fearless and competitive team which excelled both at home at overseas matches.
Under his captaincy, India has reached to the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup final, won many memorable overseas Test matches and also nurtured the future legends like MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, and Zaheer Khan.

1. Bishan Singh Bedi (2009)
Former left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi was one of the earliest Indians to inducted in ICC Hall of Fame.
He played for India from 1967 to 1979 where he played 67 Test matches and 10 One Day Internationals (ODI).
2. Kapil Dev (2009)
Famous all-rounder and captain of 1983 Cricket World Cup winning team Kapil Dev was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2009.
He ended his Test career as the highest wicket-taker with 434 wickets at the time; marking his name in history by claiming ODI’s first 200 wickets.
3. Sunil Gavaskar (2009)
Sunil Gavaskar, one of the best-ever opening batsmen to play cricket, also joined in 2009.
He made history by being the first player to cross 10,000 runs in tests, playing 125 Tests and 108 ODIs from 1971 to 1987.
4. Anil Kumble (2015)
Former-leg-spinner Anil Kumble was also inducted into ICC Hall of Fame in 2015.
He is famous for being highest wicket-taker in all formats; Tests, ODIs and T20Is.
5. Rahul Dravid (2018)
Also known as ‘The Wall’, Rahul Dravid entered the Hall of Fame in 2018.
He is one of a few players to have made more than 10,000 runs in international cricket in Tests and ODIs. He then went on to become the head coach of the Indian team and in 2024, India became the Champions of T20 World Cup.
6. Sachin Tendulkar (2019)
Recognized as one of the greatest batters in cricket history, Sachin Tendulkar became a member of the Hall of Fame in 2019.
He is the record holder for the most runs in international cricket while representing India through 200 Test matches, 463 ODIs and a single T20I match between the years 1989 to 2013.
7. Vinoo Mankad (2021)
Vinoo Mankad was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2021.
He has played a total of 44 Test matches from the year 1946 to 1959, making 2,109 runs and taking 162 wickets during his career and cementing his name in the history of Indian cricket.
8. Diana Edulji (2023)
The former captain of India women’s team became the first Indian woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2023.
She has played for India in 20 Test matches and 34 ODIs and significantly contributed to the women’s cricket.
9. Virender Sehwag (2023)
The explosive opener Virender Sehwag was also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
He made more than 8,000 runs during his career in international cricket by playing for the Indian team in Tests and ODIs and played a key role in helping the team win the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 and ICC World Cup in 2011.
10. Neetu David (2024)
The ex-left-arm bowler Neetu David became the second female Indian cricketer to make it to the list in 2024.
She played 10 Tests and 97 ODIs in her career, having taken 41 wickets in Tests and 141 wickets in ODIs.
11. MS Dhoni (2025)
The phenomenal keeper-batsman and one of the most accomplished captains of the country, MS Dhoni became a part of the ICC Hall of Fame in 2025.
Dhoni is still the only captain to win three major ICC white-ball tournaments,

Between 2004 and 2019, Dhoni played 90 Tests, 347 ODIs, and 98 T20Is.
