Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India Campbell Wilson has stepped down before the completion of his five-year term. Wilson who took the charge in July 2022 had played the key role to airline’s transformation after its takeover by the Tata Group. His resignation indicates the beginning of the new leadership phase in the firm.

Campbell Wilson’s resignation comes at a time when Air India is undergoing the major restructuring and expansion phase.
He served as CEO and MD since July 2022 and also stepped down before the completion of his 5-year tenure. The tata Group has initiated the leadership transition planning. The resignation comes amid that time when they are ongoing modernization and growth efforts.

Campbell Wilson took over as CEO of Air India in 2022 after serving the CEO of Scoot which is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines.
His plan was to revive Air India’s global reputation and to modernize fleet and services.

- He ordered the new aircraft to expand capacity and with the retrofitting and upgrading existing fleet. Also to improving customer experience and operation.

The timing of the Wilson was notable. As the several leadership changes happened in the Indian Airlines like IndiGO and Air India.
IndiGo recently appointed the Willie Walsh as CEO after the resignation of Pieter Elbers.
