  • CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as India’s 15th Vice President, defeating INDIA bloc candidate Justice B Sudershan Reddy with 452 first preference votes in an election marked by a 98.2% turnout.
  • Backed by the NDA, Radhakrishnan, a former Governor of Maharashtra and Jharkhand, and a two-time MP from Coimbatore, brings decades of political and administrative experience, having also served in the BJP, RSS, and various parliamentary and government roles.
  • He succeeds Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned in July 2025.
