The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has rolls out new products to enable COVID-19 disinfection process. These new products includes Automatic Mist Based Sanitiser Dispensing Unit and UV Sanitisation Box and Hand-held UV device. DRDO is continuously developing solutions from its existing arsenal of technologies to contribute towards fight against COVID-19.

About Automatic Mist Based Sanitiser Dispensing Unit:

Automatic Mist Based Sanitiser Dispensing Unit has been developed by Centre for Fire Explosive & Environment Safety (CFEES), Delhi. It is based on water mist aerator technology. Automatic Mist Based Sanitiser Dispensing Unit is a contactless sanitiser dispenser which sprays hand rub sanitiser solution for sanitisation of hands while entering or exiting the buildings/office complexes, etc. It can be used in office buildings, residential buildings, airports, hospitals, malls, railway stations, bus stations and critical installations.

About UV Sanitisation Box and Hand-held UV device:

UV Sanitisation Box and Hand-held UV device has been designed & developed Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences (DIPAS) and Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences (INMAS), DRDO laboratories. UV Sanitisation Box will be used for the purpse of disinfecting personal belongings such as mobile phone, tablets, purse, currency, cover of office files, etc. While the hand held device will be used for disinfecting office and house hold objects such as chairs, files, postal delivered items and food packets.

The UV Sanitisation Box and Hand-held UV device are “Ultraviolet C Light” based devices. The “Ultraviolet C Light” is particularly good at destroying the genetic material in COVID-19 as well as prevents the viral particles from making more copies of themselves.
