Everest Legends Kami Rita and Lhakpa Sherpa Break Their Own Summit Records Again

A renowned Nepali mountain guide has broken his own world record for the most summits of Mount Everest, after scaling the world’s tallest peak for the 32nd time. Kami Rita Sherpa, 56 who is known as the “Everest Man”, was leading clients up the 8,849m (29,032ft) peak on Sunday when he set the new record.

Veteran Nepali mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa has once again set up the new global record.

The 56 year old mountaineer reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 32nd time.

This makes him the first person with the highest number of successful Everest summits in history.

He has achieved the record while leading climbers as part of a guided expedition.

Kami Rita is widely respected in the mountaineering world for his consistency, endurance and the technical climbing expertise.

Who Is Known as the Everest Man?

Kami Rita Sherpa earned the nickname of the ‘Everest Man’ because of his unmatched climbing achievements.

His Everest journey was began in the year 1994.

Since then, he has climbed the mountain almost every year.

In some years, he has reached the summit twice.

He was born in the Nepal’s Solukhumbu region, he comes from a family who is deeply connected to mountaineering.

Lhakpa Sherpa Sets New Women’s Everest Record

On the same historic day, Lhakpa Sherpa also rewrote the history.

She is also known as the ‘Mountain Queen’ and she climbed the Mount Everest for the 11th time.

This extends her own record for the most Everest ascents by any female climber.

The 52 year old remains one of the most celebrated women in the global mountaineering.

Why Lhakpa Sherpa Is So Significant

Lhakpa Sherpa first summited the Mount Everest in the year 2000.

She became the first Nepali woman to successfully climb the Everest and descend safely.

Her life story gained global attention through the 2023 documentary which named as Mountain Queen.

This documentary has highlighted her achievements as both a mountaineer and single mother.
