Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has developed the world’s most affordable COVID-19 Diagnostic Kit “Corosure”. The kit has been e-launched by the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. The kit has also received the approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as well as the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
The Corosure Kit developed by IIT Delhi is much cheaper than other kits and is manufactured by Delhi NCR-based Newtech Medical Devices. The launch of this kit is expected to significantly bring down the cost of COVID-19 RT-PCR testing. With this, IIT Delhi has become the first academic institution to obtain the approval from ICMR for a real-time PCR-based diagnostic assay.
