India Clinched 5 Medals On Day One Of Asian Games At Hangzhou In China

 

India, known for its strong sporting culture, had a promising start on the first official day of the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. India wrapped up the first official day of the Asian Games 2023 with five medals – three silver and two bronze.

The women’s 10m air rifle team, comprising Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ramita, set the tone for India by clinching the country’s first medal at the Asian Games 2023. India’s impressive medal streak in rowing continued as Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh, competing in the men’s lightweight double sculls, secured a silver medal. Charanjot Singh, representing India in FC Online, faced disappointment as he lost 2-0 for the second time to Chinese player Jiacheng Liu, leading to his exit from the event. Indian swimmers, including Maana Patel, Dhinidhi Desinghu, Janhvi Choudhary, and Shivangi Sarma, displayed their prowess by breaking the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay national record.

Despite a valiant effort, the Indian swimming team finished seventh in the final. The Indian team faced tough competition, with China securing the gold, and Japan and Hong Kong China winning the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In the table tennis men’s team quarter-final, India suffered a 3-0 defeat against the Republic of Korea, marking a challenging day for Indian paddlers. However, they still have opportunities in the men’s singles and doubles events.
