According to the latest statistics by Respectable Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on 25th of September 2026, India had witnessed the maximum ever FDI inflow in FY 2025-26 amounting to USD 94.53 billion. The cumulative FDI for FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26 stood at USD 843 billion. This was made known on the occasion of 12 years of Make in India campaign which was launched on 25 September 2014.

The FDI figure for FY26 is higher compared to the gross FDI inflow of USD 81.0 billion for FY 2024-25.
PLI Schemes Help in Manufacturing Investments
Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have played a significant role in the manufacturing policy of India. Till March 31, the schemes had helped in achieving Rs 2.40 lakh crore of actual investment, Rs 23.8 lakh crore of production and sales and Rs 15.2 lakh crore of exports.
The schemes have also helped in creating more than 14.6 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Make in India Policy Marks 12 Years
The announcement regarding the FDI was made as Make in India completed its 12th year.
Started on September 25, 2014, this initiative aims at improving the process of manufacturing, investments and innovation in the country. According to the PIB Backgrounder issued recently, the manufacturing capacity of the country has increased in the sectors such as electronics, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, steel, railways and defence.
Various other initiatives have also supported the manufacturing process, including NSWS, PLI schemes, PM GatiShakti and India Industrial Land Bank.
Greenfield Smart Cities under NICDP & Ease of Doing Business
In addition, the government is planning to build new greenfield industrial smart cities through the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP). These initiatives would offer infrastructure for industries and investments.
Ease of Doing Business measures have been introduced by Goyal, which have mainly aimed at making business regulations and compliances simpler.
Yet another milestone in the field of digital-commerce has been the making of more than 470 crore orders through the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
FDI and Investment in India
FDI refers to the investment made by a foreign company in a business operating in another nation, usually with a long-term interest and having some control/influence over the enterprise.
In India, FDI policy is regulated by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry whereas the RBI is very important from the perspective of foreign investments.
The record level of FY26 foreign investments is a part of a broader phase of rising foreign investments. The figures of gross FDI in India were estimated at USD 81 billion in FY25 before the FY26 investments reached USD 94.53 billion.
