India Sends Emergency Medical Aid to Africa Amid Ebola Outbreak

India supporting the African nations in their fight against the Ebola outbreak by providing the emergency medical assistance to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). The Government of India has dispatched the first tranche of the emergency medical supplies and protective kits to support the Africa’s efforts in combating the Ebola outbreak.

The assistance was handed over by the Upender Singh Rawat, India’s High Commissioner to Uganda to the Africa CDC office. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India remains committed to providing the further support to affected countries and regional health agencies as the situation evolves.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India will continue to assist the African nations and the Africa CDC in addressing the ongoing public health emergency.

In a social media post he emphasized the India’s readiness to assist African countries in responding to the emerging Ebola crisis and highlighted the dispatch of urgent medical supplies as part of this commitment.

India’s assistance demonstrates its growing role in the global health diplomacy and its emphasis on South-South cooperation and particularly with developing nations.

Africa CDC Welcomes The India’s Support

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has welcomed the arrival of the emergency pharmaceutical supplies. According to Africa CDC, the donated supplies will play the important role in supporting the ongoing response to the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
