Respectable Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has launched the ‘Samadhan Didi’ which is an AI-enabled voice chatbot integrated with the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS). It is developed by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in collaboration with Bhashini. This chatbot enables the citizens to register grievances simply by speaking in their native language.
What is Samadhan Didi?
Samadhan Didi is the AI-powered voice-enabled chatbot which is designed to simplify the grievance filing process for citizens. This platform allows the individuals to lodge the complaints by speaking naturally in their preferred language without needing to understand government departments, categories or administrative procedures.
By using the artificial intelligence and language-processing technologies, this chatbot understands the complaint and it asks relevant follow-up questions, identifies the concerned ministry or department and it will automatically registers the grievance with the appropriate authority.
This innovation significantly reduces the procedural barriers and makes government services more citizen-friendly.
A Major Reform in Public Grievance Redressal
Speaking at the launch event in the New Delhi, Dr. Jitendra Singh has described the initiative as the ‘Democratization of the Public Grievance Mechanism’ in India. According to the Minister, the reform reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the “Ease of Using” public services and ensuring that governance reaches to every citizen, regardless of language, education level or digital literacy.
The chatbot is expected to make grievance redressal,
- More accessible
- Faster and efficient
- Citizen-friendly
- Inclusive and multilingual
- Technology-driven
The initiative also aligns with the broader vision of digital governance and administrative reforms.
How Samadhan Didi Works
The chatbot has been designed to provide the seamless user experience.
A citizen simply needs to,
- Speak about the grievance in their own language.
- Answer a few clarification questions.
- Allow the AI system to process the information.
- Have the complaint automatically submitted to the concerned authority.
The user does not need to know about the,
- Ministry name
- Department name
- Complaint category
- Sub-category details
The system automatically performs these functions using the AI-driven grievance classification models trained on CPGRAMS data. This will reduces the complexity and improves accuracy in grievance registration.
Role of Bhashini in the Initiative
The chatbot has been developed with the collaboration between DARPG and Bhashini and it is India’s AI-based language technology platform.
Bhashini provides the advanced language processing capabilities that enables the,
- Speech recognition
- Translation services
- Multilingual communication
- Natural language understanding
By integrating the Bhashini’s capabilities with CPGRAMS, the government has created the platform capable of understanding complaints across multiple Indian languages.
Expanding Access Through Multilingual Support
One of the important highlights of Samadhan Didi is its strong focus on India’s linguistic diversity. Currently, this system supports the 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
The government is also working to include the additional regional and indigenous languages such as,
- Bhojpuri
- Garo
- Khasi
- Mizo
- Bodhi
This phased expansion aims to ensure that the language does not become a barrier to accessing government services.
Data Security and Privacy Measures
The major concern in AI-driven systems is the data protection. The government has clarified that Samadhan Didi has been developed within a secure government infrastructure, ensuring the,
- Data privacy
- Secure information handling
- Protection of citizen information
- Compliance with government security standards
This ensures that users can confidently interact with the platform while sharing sensitive grievance-related information.
