International Day of UN Peacekeepers is observed globally on 29 May every year. The United Nations commemorates the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. This day is dedicated to all the women and men who have served as military, police or civilians in UN Peacekeeping operations.

2020 Theme: Women in Peacekeeping: A Key to Peace. The theme helps to mark the 20th anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

About International Day of UN Peacekeepers:

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution in 2003 and designated 29 May as the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers. The day was established to honour the memory of the UN peacekeepers who have lost their lives in the cause of peace and pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in UN peacekeeping operations for their high level of professionalism, dedication and courage.
