In a nail-biting finale at the Hungarian Grand Prix 2025, Lando Norris secured victory after fending off a late charge from his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. The race, held at the Hungaroring in Budapest, showcased intense strategy, high drama, and fierce wheel-to-wheel battles, giving fans one of the most memorable races of the season.
Early Race Dominance by Leclerc
Starting from pole position, Charles Leclerc made a strong getaway in his Ferrari, controlling the pace in the early laps. Piastri, close behind in second, attempted an undercut during the first round of pit stops but couldn’t edge past the Monegasque driver.
However, as the race strategy unfolded, Leclerc and Piastri stuck to two-stop strategies, while Norris gambled on a one-stop plan, a decision that proved decisive in the final outcome.
Norris vs Piastri: The Decisive Battle
With fewer pit stops, Norris emerged as race leader in the latter stages. But his teammate Piastri, on fresher tires and faster pace, began closing the gap rapidly. The final laps saw Piastri right on Norris’s tail, attempting multiple overtakes. Despite the pressure, Norris displayed masterful defensive driving, eventually crossing the line just 0.698 seconds ahead.
This win marked Norris’s fifth victory of the season, cutting Piastri’s lead in the Drivers’ Championship to just nine points heading into the summer break.
