The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched TribeX, it is India’s first dedicated digital learning platform for the tribal arts, culture, languages and traditional knowledge, It is unveiled by the Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram at the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It combines education, documentation and skill development on a single platform.
Ministry of Tribal Affairs Launches TribeX
On 7th of July 2026, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs officially launched TribeX, a first-of-its-kind digital platform dedicated to preserving, documenting, and promoting India’s tribal heritage.
The platform was inaugurated by Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram during the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

What Is TribeX?
TribeX is the comprehensive digital learning ecosystem which is designed to promote tribal education, cultural preservation, and skill development.
The platform enables the,

It provides learners from India and all around the world with the authentic access to tribal knowledge directly from experienced tribal artisans, scholars, and cultural experts.
This initiative aims to bridge geographical barriers while to preserving centuries-old tribal traditions in digital form.
Key Objectives of TribeX
The platform has been developed with the multiple long-term goals.
Its primary objectives includes the,

- Promoting tribal languages and cultural traditions.

Free Certificate Courses on Tribal Heritage
At the time of the launch, TribeX offers total 20 free certificate courses which covers a wide range of tribal art forms and traditional skills.
The courses includes the,
- Tribal paintings
- Handicrafts
- Handloom traditions
- Tribal artefacts
- Traditional musical instruments
The Ministry has also announced the plans to expand the platform to more than 100 certificate courses, and making it as one of India’s largest digital learning resources on tribal heritage.
These courses are designed for the students, researchers, educators, professionals, and anyone who are interested in learning about India’s indigenous communities.
UGC-Recognised Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
In addition to these certificate courses, TribeX offers five UGC-recognixed one-year hybrid postgraduate diploma program.
The programmes includes the,
- Tribal Language: Santali (Ol Chiki)
- Sustainable Tribal Culture-Based Livelihood Practices
- Museology and Tribal Museum Management
- Tribal Arts and Crafts of India
- Tribal Textiles
These diploma program combines the,
- Expert lectures
- Practical internships
- Dissertation work
The main objective is to enhance the employability while preserving tribal knowledge.
Partnership with Sampurnanand Sanskrit University
To strengthen the academic quality, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi.
The university will support the delivery of the postgraduate diploma program that are offered via TribeX.
This collaboration will ensures the academic recognition and quality assurance for learners enrolled on the platform.
