Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh, announced the establishment of North India’s first Government Homeopathic College in the Jasrota area of Kathua district, J&K. The project, funded centrally at Rs 80 crore, reflects a significant stride in healthcare and education infrastructure development in the region.

- The college will cover an area of over 8 acres, with provisions to expand further.
- It will include a hospital complex, college facilities, administrative block, and separate hostels for male and female students.
- Future plans include the addition of amenities like an auditorium and playground.
Healthcare Integration and Benefits
- The college aligns with the government’s strategy of integrating traditional Indian medicine, including Homeopathy, Ayurveda, and naturopathy, with allopathic medicine.
- It aims to provide cost-effective treatment options to patients and cater to the growing demand for Homeopathy in the region.
Medical Infrastructure Enhancement
- Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted the progress in medical infrastructure in Kathua, including the establishment of a government medical college and a cancer treatment facility.
