Shantanu Moitra to Receive National Lata Mangeshkar Award 2026 in Indore

Music director Shantanu Moitra is to be honored with the National Lata Mangeshkar Award 2026 of the government of the Madhya Pradesh for his achievements in the music direction. This award will be conferred on him in Indore on September 28th 2026, during a two-day event celebrating the birth anniversary of the great singer Lata Mangeshkar. The award consists of a tax-free cash award of ₹5 lakh along with a citation.

Award Presentation Ceremony in Indore

The award presentation ceremony will be organized at the Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Indore on September 28.

A two-day celebration will start from September 27 with the musical event Amar Lata Hamari Lata…. This will be followed on September 28 with the award presentation ceremony and a performance by singing pair Sachet-Parampara.

The programs will be open to the public free of charge.

Shantanu Moitra – An Overview

Shantanu Moitra was born on January 22, 1968, in Lucknow. Before becoming a music composer and background-score composer in films, he started his career in advertising.

The movies in which he composed music are Parineeta, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, Madras Cafe, Piku, October and 12th Fail.

He has used melody and folk in his work, making it adaptable to the emotion of the story in movies.

In 2014, Shantanu Moitra was awarded the National Film Award for Best Music Direction (Background Score) for the Telugu movie ‘Na Bangaru Talli.’

The Lata Mangeshkar Award was established by the Government of Madhya Pradesh in 1984 in recognition of outstanding achievements in the music industry.

The Lata Mangeshkar Award is linked with the legacy of the famous Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. Lata Mangeshkar was born on 28th September 1929 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Some of the significant awards won by Lata Mangeshkar include the Bharat Ratna, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and the three National Film Awards.
