‘World Trade Center’ To Come Up In Kolkata’s Salt Lake: Merlin Group

Merlin Group has partnered with the World Trade Centers Association to develop a World Trade Center in Kolkata that will cover an area of 3.5 million square feet. The project’s License Agreement was signed by Scott Wang, Vice President of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) Asia Pacific region, and Merlin Group’s Chairman, Sushil Mohta, and Managing Director, Saket Mohta. The project, which is being built in Salt Lake, West Bengal, is estimated to require an investment of approximately Rs 1,500 crore.

The oldest World Trade Center in India is located in Mumbai, and there are additional Centers in Bangalore, Chennai, New Delhi, Noida, Pune, and other cities. The construction of the proposed World Trade Center in Kolkata is expected to enhance the economic growth of West Bengal and Eastern India by promoting partnerships with international trade organizations and investors from other countries via other World Trade Center members. This development is projected to bring a substantial contribution to the state’s finances and create employment opportunities for 30,000 people.

The upcoming World Trade Center in Kolkata’s Salt Lake will feature state-of-the-art facilities, carrying the World Trade Center brand, such as trade education, trade information, research, business services, inbound and outbound trade missions, an international business club, conference and convention facilities, exhibition facilities, and IT/ITes offices, as well as support facilities, retail, 5-star hotels, food and beverage outlets, and entertainment amenities. This is in line with the current policy.
