Tamil Nadu (Cabinet) Ministers List 2026 Released, Check Name and Ministry

Respectable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Joseph Vijay has expanded the his government and with this the total strength of the Cabinet to 32 ministers. In a significant political move, CM Vijay has retained the Home portfolio along with Youth Welfare and make the important changes in the finance department.

CM Vijay Expands Tamil Nadu Cabinet

Tamil Nadu witnessed the major cabinet expansion as Chief Minister Joseph Vijay inducted the total 23 new ministers into his government.

Earlier, Vijay had taken oath along with nine ministers from his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

With the latest expansion, the Cabinet ministers now stands at 32 members.

Under the constitutional rules, Tamil Nadu can have up to 35 ministers, which is 15 percent of the State Assembly’s strength of 234.

Vijay Retains Key Portfolios

Chief Minister Vijay has kept some of the most politically sensitive and the strategic portfolios with himself.

These includes the,

  • Police and Home
  • General Administration
  • Special Programme Implementation
  • Poverty Alleviation & Rural Indebtedness
  • Youth Welfare
  • Urban Development & Water Supply

Also holding the Home portfolio signals the Vijay’s focus on law and order.

Major Finance Portfolio Change

One of the biggest cabinet changes came in to the finance department.

Senior leader KA Sengottaiyan, who was earlier assigned the Finance, has now been moved to the Revenue and Disaster Management department.

  • Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK)
  • Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)

Their future participation could further change the cabinet structure.
