Indian athletes and officials will wear jute viscose blended apparel during the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, it is developed by the National Jute Board (NJB) under the Ministry of Textiles, it is co-friendly apparel which showcases India’s commitment to sustainable textiles, innovation in natural fibres and Make in India initiative. India Introduces Sustainable Jute Apparel for Commonwealth Games 2026
The National Jute Board (NJB) has developed the special jute-viscose blended fabric which will be used for the official apparel of the Indian contingent participating in the Commonwealth Games 2026.

This apparel is made from a 100% biodegradable jute-viscose blended fabric, it highlighting India’s efforts to promote the environmentally sustainable alternatives in the textile sector.
First for International Multi-Sport Events
The Commonwealth Games 2026 will become the first international multi-sport event where the jute-based apparel is officially worn by a national participating contingent.
This milestone showcases the India’s innovation in sustainable fashion, the growing potential of natural fibre-based textiles and country’s leadership in promoting green manufacturing.
The initiative is also expected to inspire wider adoption of the sustainable fabrics in international sporting events and fashion industries.
Commonwealth Games 2026 Details
The Commonwealth Games 2026 will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, it is scheduled from 23 July to 2 August 2026.
This event will bring together athletes from 72 Commonwealth nations and territories.
India will be represented by total 124-member contingent, comprising,
- 78 male athletes
- 46 female athletes
The Indian athletes and team officials will wear the specially designed jute apparel during the official ceremonies and team engagements.
Kit Unveiled Ceremony
The Commonwealth Games kit was unveiled at the Kit Unveiling and Send-off Ceremony, which was held in New Delhi on 7th of July 2026.
This ceremony was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including,
