Defence Minister Unveils The Statue General Bipin Rawat In Dehradun

In a memorable event at TonsBridge School in Dehradun, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled a statue of General Bipin Rawat, who was India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). This ceremony was not just about remembering a great leader but also about inspiring the future generations.

Remembering General Rawat’s Bravery

During the event, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared stories of General Rawat’s courage and dedication. He talked about a time when General Rawat was shot at a border post in Jammu and Kashmir. This incident motivated General Rawat to improve the operations of the Indian Army along the borders with Pakistan and China when he was the Army Chief and later as the CDS.

Singh praised General Rawat for his commitment to the country’s security and his role as a true symbol of the military’s values. He mentioned how General Rawat’s life motto, ‘Die with your boots on,’ showed his dedication to duty until his last breath.

A Loss to the Nation

The Defence Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of General Rawat, emphasizing that his dedication to the country remained steadfast until the end. Singh highlighted the significance of General Rawat’s role as the first CDS, noting it as a major reform in the military history of India. He said that this position showed the government’s dedication to strengthening the Armed Forces.

Honouring the Soldiers

Rajnath Singh spoke about the government’s responsibility to honor soldiers and acknowledge their sacrifices. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading efforts to recognize the bravery of Indian soldiers. The Defence Minister also talked about the government’s work in providing advanced weapons to the Armed Forces and building the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Inspiring the Young

The decision to place General Rawat’s statue in the school was praised by Rajnath Singh, who noted its importance in teaching children about the valor of the Armed Forces. He stressed that statues play a crucial role in society by inspiring people. Singh mentioned other inspirational figures like Mahatma Gandhi and former President APJ Abdul Kalam, encouraging children to learn from these heroes and contribute to nation-building.
