Gujarat Police have launched ‘Operation Surakshit Cyberspace’, it is a 28 day statewide campaign aimed at to make the digital space safer for women and children. The initiative began on 1st of July, 2026, and it will continue till 28th July, 2026. Initiative combines technology-driven policing, cyber awareness programs, victim outreach and coordinated enforcement
What is Operation Surakshit Cyberspace?
Operation Surakshit Cyberspace of Gujarat is a statewide cyber safety initiative, it was launched by the Gujarat Police to prevent cybercrimes affecting women and children.
The campaign integrates intelligence-led policing, digital awareness, community engagement and technological tools to identify cyber threats and assist victims while improving law enforcement response.
This initiative was set to be implemented under the guidance of Director General of Police G.S. Malik, and it is coordinated by the CID Crime-Women Cell.
Significance of the Campaign
As women and children are increasingly becoming targets of cyber offences such as the
- Cyberstalking
- Online harassment and exploitation
- Identity theft
- Financial fraud
- Digital privacy violations
According to the Additional Director General of Police (CID Crime-Women Cell) Ajay Choudhary, this campaign aims to proactively identify vulnerable individuals, prevent financial losses, improve cyber awareness and also ensure timely police intervention before any cyber threats escalate.

28-day initiative will focus on both the prevention and enforcement by several measures, and it includes.
- Identifying potential cybercrime victims via cyber intelligence.
- Verifying cybercrime alerts and conducting the field-level investigations.
- Counselling at-risk individuals.
- Facilitating the rapid reporting via the National Cyber Helpline.
- Ensuring prompt registration and investigation of cybercrime complaints.
Using the analytical and intelligence-based tools to detect online threats.
This campaign also prioritises victim outreach and preventive policing to reduce cyber risks.
Community Participation and Awareness Drive
To recognise the cyber safety requires public involvement, so Gujarat Police are collaborating with the,
- Banks
- Telecom service providers
- Educational institutions
- Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs)
- Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)
- Community leaders
Also, dedicated cybercrime police stations and SHE Teams will conduct awareness program across the state to educate citizens about safe digital practices.
Major Targets of Operation Surakshit Cyberspace
This campaign has set some ambitious outreach goals, and it includes,
To educate 25 lakh citizens on cyber safety and responsible online behaviour.
Encourage around 20 lakh students to take the Cyber Safety Pledge.
Organising multiple awareness programs in 10,000 schools and 1,500 colleges in the state.
Try to reach one lakh adolescent girls with sessions on cyberstalking, online harassment, digital privacy and internet safety.
Also, ensure preliminary police action within 24 hours of every cyber complaint involving women and children.
