Renowned Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur to Chair International Jury Panel
In a recent announcement, IFFI unveiled the distinguished members of its international jury panel, with acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur leading the team. Shekhar Kapur is widely recognized for his cinematic masterpieces, including ‘Bandit Queen,’ ‘Mr. India,’ and ‘Masoom.’ He has earned multiple awards, including two National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, and a BAFTA Award.
Meet the International Jury Members
The international jury panel comprises an array of accomplished individuals from the global film fraternity:
Jose Luis Alcaine (Cinematographer): A visionary in the world of cinematography, Alcaine made history by introducing the use of fluorescent tubes as key lighting in the 1970s. He is celebrated for his collaborations with iconic director Pedro Almodovar and his work on films like ‘Belle Époque’ (which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1993) and ‘The Skin I Live In’ (2011).
Jerome Paillard (Film Producer & Ex-head of Film Market): Jerome Paillard’s journey from a classical musician to an artistic director and a CFO for a classical record label has been nothing short of remarkable. He co-produced numerous feature films alongside Daniel Toscan du Plantier, working with legendary directors like Satyajit Ray.
Catherine Dussart (Film Producer): Catherine Dussart’s prolific career as a film producer spans nearly 100 films across 15 different countries. Her notable works include ‘Huahua shijie linghun ke’ (2017), ‘The Missing Picture’ (2013), and ‘Exil’ (2016). Additionally, she serves as a consultant for the Doha Film Institute.
Helen Leake (Film Producer): A highly respected figure in the Australian film industry, Helen Leake has produced several notable feature films, including ‘CARNIFEX,’ ‘SWERVE,’ ‘WOLF CREEK 2,’ ‘HEAVEN’S BURNING,’ and ‘BLACK AND WHITE.’
These jury members will play a pivotal role in evaluating entries for the International Competition and the Best Debut Feature Film of a Director Award at the festival.
